i'm not too fond of chocolate, but there's something addicting about my sister's chocolate chip cookies! even though i wish she'd make my favorite, oatmeal cranberry cookies, i still get excited whenever she makes these chocolate chip cookies. ♥ yayy!

chocolate chip cookies; ¾ cup butter, 1 cup brown sugar, ½ cup white sugar, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, 2 cups flour, ½ teaspoon baking soda, ½ teaspoon salt, 2 cups chocolate chips. (this recipe yields about 45 chocolate chip cookies!)

i like to have all the ingredients measured out and ready before i start.

in a large bowl, add the brown sugar, white sugar, softened butter and mix until smooth.

then crack an egg and pour in the vanilla extract. mix it again.

sift the flour, baking soda, and salt into the large bowl,

and combine until it looks something like this.

then fold in the chocolate chip cookies. this is most definitely the fun part!

roll the dough and place on parchment paper. or aluminum foil. or whatever you have in the kitchen. i was able to fit 15 on each tray because the cookies do not expand that much.

bake for thirteen minutes at 325° F. it tastes better if pulled out a little earlier and left to rest.

i accidentally turned off the oven when one of the trays was in the oven. ten minutes later, i remembered and turned it back on, but the cookies cracked. the usual texture of the cookie is supposed to be smooth (in the following picture, compare top left with bottom right).

in total, i made four different types of cookies using the same recipe. top left: cracked cookie due to uneven baking. top right: added crushed walnuts for a chocolate chip walnut cookie. bottom left: sugar cookie with no chocolate. bottom right: chocolate chip cookie.
