i really need to slow down and spend more time at home. i've been saying it since the new year, but it hasn't really happened. maybe then i'll have more time to relax and cook dinner. the other night, i took a break from going out or ordering takeout and actually made dumplings. it's been a while.

pork dumplings; ground pork, egg, corn starch, nappa cabbage, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, pepper (i usually skip the salt if i'm using soy sauce).

i like to throw the ingredients in as i go. there's rarely time to prep everything prior to cooking.

and when it looks about right or, in my case, colorful enough, it's time to mix.

then pinch these dumplings together at the top-- nothing fancy.

and throw the dumplings into boiling water. seven minutes give or take.

to make it a complete meal, just add chicken broth and water with thick rice noodles.
